The market this week

Our regular weekly stalls in pics.

Saturday 25 November 10-3pm

The Christmas lights are up

A big thank you is in order for the ‘Light up the Palace’ team for all their hard work in raising over £17,000 to fund new festive lights and secure Croydon Council’s commitment to install and store the lights every year as well as for installing a sparkling community Christmas tree at the top of Belvedere Road.  The 36 lamppost lights were lit up one by one on Thursday evening following a packed event at Westow House involving brass band, festive treats and a children’s treasure hunt.  The run up to Christmas has truly begun.

Local author signing books

We are also very excited to welcome local author Graham Whitlock to the market, who says, “The Crystal Palace Chronicles are rollercoaster adventures time-travelling back to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace, and Saturday is your chance to get personalised signed copies of the trilogy by myself, Graham Whitlock.

Our guests this week are:

Just a gentle reminder to start to get your Christmas orders in to avoid disappointment.

WINE

The Wine Scout  Naturally produced wines from around the world, sourced by Pedro.  He says “Hello! It’s Nouveau week so we will taste the first wines of the year. The white Grains de Raisin Jo Nouveau Landron 2023 from the Loire in France is a light-bodied, young and mineral forward Muscadet. Expect green apple, citrus, lemon and peach flavours with hints of white flowers and cantaloupe and some sea salt. So pure!

We will also try the Beaujolais Nouveau 2023 from Jean-Francois Debourg. This beautiful Bojo stands out with its intoxicatingly ripe aromas of wild strawberries and undertones of cinnamon, autumnal spice and forest floor. Lifted and supple in texture as intended, this is straight up party juice that’s best served chilled. The grapes come from Jean-Francois’ family estate in South Beaujolais and underwent natural fermentation in whole-bunches with nothing added and nothing taken away.”

ASK PEDRO ABOUT CHRISTMAS ORDERS.
