We currently do not have any weekly pitches for food stalls but do have occasional slots that come up.
If you would like a stall at our weekly market, please look at our stall holder terms below. If you meet the criteria, please email [email protected] and tell us what you are interested in selling and how often you would like to come. There are no regular spots available at the moment, but we keep a file of applications for when a suitable slot becomes available.
Crystal Palace Food Market is part of Crystal Palace Transition Town, and is a non profit making community market.
The Transition movement is about building sustainable resilient communities, which includes re-localising our food systems. This means working with communities and farmers to take control of our food back from supermarkets and agri-business. Crystal Palace Food Market has been set up to support and promote food production that is:
- ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE – Organic or moving towards Organic
- AS LOCAL AS POSSIBLE – for prepared food & artisanal products
- SEASONAL
- FAIRLY TRADED
- PART OF A SMALL SCALE OPERATION
These STALLHOLDER TERMS and CONDITIONS have been created with the above in mind.
1. ORGANICALLY MINDED PRODUCERS
“Organically minded” means that the producers are already or are aspiring towards becoming sustainable in their production. We ask for full transparency and for this to be made clear on the website/stalls. Please send a copy of your certification. We allow organic produce grown in the UK, Europe and beyond, but will source as close to home as possible. We support sustainable ways of farming wherever they are taking place.
2. ULTRA LOCAL PREPARED FOOD/ARTISAN PRODUCTS
We prefer to support people from our own community (SE London) when offering prepared food or artisan products. This is to support local community resilience.
3. INFORMED STALLHOLDERS
As far as possible, the stallholders themselves are involved in the growing, rearing, catching, producing, foraging etc. If that is not possible, we ask that each stall holder is be able to speak knowledgeably about the food they are selling.
4. TRANSPARENCY
The stall holder knows the origin of all the products for sale and is able and willing to communicate this on the website and to the buyers directly.
We also ask for all prices to be CLEARLY LABELLED and for each stall to have at least one CHEAPLY PRICED AFFORDABLE ITEM.
5. GM FREE & FAIR TRADE/FAIRLY TRADED
To be used where possible, when local products are not available.
6. MINIMAL & SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
Please use minimal and sustainable packaging where possible
7. COMPLIANCE WITH CURRENT STANDARDS
(a) All stallholders comply with Trading Standards & Environmental Health requirements.
(b) All stallholders have employee liability insurance, public liability insurance for stalls and product liability insurance for the products. Copies of each must be supplied to the market management BEFORE trading.
8. TIMING
Stallholders start selling to the public at 10am and finish at but not before 3pm
9. FEES
The basic stall fee is 10% of takings – with a minimum stall fee of £25 and a maximum of £100. In addition stall + weight rental = £5/day, each table = £2/day.
10. SITE RULES
The market management reserves the right to ask stallholders to leave if they do not comply to these terms and conditions or respect the market principles.
Your stall MUST be adequately weighted – bring a minimum of 30kgs of weights with you – or we will have to send you home. It can be a windy site!
You are responsible for taking away your own rubbish and clearing the pitch space of any litter.
No smoking allowed on stalls.
Help those around you when they need it.
